Since we did not get Thursday off in the UAE, we decided to celebrate it on Friday. Conveniently or not, we had signed up for a Spinney's build-up ride No. 4 (85km) the morning of. We have done three build-up rides before, 1st one for 35 km, second for 45 km and third for 65 km. This was the last of the series before the big race on December 14: Spinney's Cycle Challenge Dubai for 92 km. In strong wind, it took us three hours to finish the 85 km but we felt good (except our behinds were hurting!) and exhausted. We went home and without even batting an eye and changing out of our cycling outfit, we started cooking the Turkey feverishly.
Today I am thinking of our friends who are competing in Ironman Cozumel in Mexico. Ironman is a brutal 12hr+ race consisting of 2.4 mile (3.8km) swim, 112 mile (180 km) bike, and a full marathon at the end. The average time for all the athletes last year was 12 hrs and 43 min. I thought about signing up but decided that I should do the half-ironman before attempting the full ironman.
Anyway, my fellow triathletes and great friends are my inspirations and I will be thinking about them literally all day today!
Thinking of the menu for the upcoming Thanksgiving feast we are planning, I was inspired by these beautiful photographs by Ditte Isager for Bon Appetit. So, I decided to keep it simple both for food and decor...
I will post photos of how it turned out.
I was lost for words when I saw this. SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!! My country people are so creative.
-“Vegetabrella” is an umbrella that looks like a head of lettuce when folded. It is as green and wrinkly as a fresh head of lettuce. Even the cover of the umbrella is designed to look like a lettuce. The color changes to greenish yellow when unfolded.

Where are we?
We are in 'Old Dubai' near the Creek which is on the North side of Dubai. Here you can see mosque after mosque and traditional Dhows that travel to Iran for business.
Dubai Spice Souk.
We get the pumpkins and watermelons at the same time! A little strange but still great!
