My younger brother came to visit us in Dubai for the birth of our daughter. He has been a great uncle to our older son and is already in love with his new niece! We were able to celebrate his 35th birthday in Dubai!
Towards the end of my pregnancy when I was having trouble sleeping, I read a lot of books anything and everything. I found this at a used book sale at the Arabian Ranches shopping center.
It was a fast read and I finished reading this in about three days. I particularly enjoyed reading the Italy section as we lived in Bologna for a bit 10 years ago. Not that I did not enjoy reading the book but I kind of struggled to finish the India section... Now that I finished reading it, I want to watch the movie but a part of me feels similar to LD*... We shall see...

Since we found out we were having a girl but I was still afraid of all things pink, four of my girlfriends got together and threw us a baby shower/party. It was very Dubai in a sense that my German friend, a half-Lebanese half Korean friend, an American friend and a Vietnamese French friend got together with their own ideas about what a baby shower (a very American event) looks like and should be. At the end, it was a coed and family affair - very chill, relaxing and fun without all the typical baby shower games. Just good people and great people hanging out! We felt very loved and happy. Thank you...
Also, it must have been a fantastic baby shower because I went into labor a day later...
Driving back from the American Hospital of Dubai where we were hospitalized alongside our jaundiced daughter, we saw this sunset over Dubai Marina... We stopped at the gas station on Emirates road and took a picture. It was very stressful to deal with the repeated hospitalization (though thankfully, she is better now!) but this sunset made us stop and appreciate what we had. We wanted to share it.
On May 5th, we celebrated a Japanese holiday called the Children's/Boys day.
I decided to make a variation of this classic Italian Caponata recipe with egg plants, yellow and red peppers, fresh tomatoes, thyme and Italian parsley from Greenheart Organics. It came out great! I find that caponata is always better the next day. Keep it in the fridge overnight and eat it on top of toasted bread. It is divine!
Ms. E comes home with Cars bandage on her feet for her Jaundice test. At this point, we did not know that we would need to go back to the hospital to be hospitalized again so that Ms. E can go under the blue light to treat her jaundice.
